The Sator x Rotas reversible amulet is inspired by the beauty and the mystery of the Sator Square, also called "Magic Square".
This palindrom was first discovered on the floor of a Pompei villa and has been inscribed in all kinds of places throughout the centuries.
Although its meaning remains a mystery, it is known to have been a protection talisman for centuries, keeping harm from coming to those who displayed or carried it.

There were two ways to compose the magic square, one starting by SATOR and the other by ROTAS (see last image), both seem to have the same meaning and properties.

▵ D E S C R I P T I O N ▵
This listing is for one Amulet.

- Handmade by me.
- Sterling silver (950) sustainable and ethically recycled in France.
- The Magic Square sides are approximatively : 1,5cm / 0,6 inches
- The necklace measures : 50 cm / 19,7 inches

- The amulet is reversible, displaying both combinations of words:
SATOR / AREPO / TENET / OPERA / ROTAS on one side &
ROTAS / OPERA / TENET / AREPO / SATOR on the other side

I craft each amulet upon order and oxidise the letters to emphasise them. The pendant is then polished in order to achieve its velvety finish.
Each amulet is unique and has its very own shape and character.

L'amulette réversible Sator x Rotas est inspirée par la beauté et le mystère du Carré Sator, aussi appelé "Carré Magique".
Ce palindrome a été découvert sur ​​le sol d'une villa de Pompéi et a été utilisé dans de nombreux lieux à travers les siècles.
Bien que sa signification reste un mystère, il est connu pour avoir été un talisman de protection pendant des siècles, protégeant du danger celui qui le portait.

Il existe deux façon de composer le carré magique, une commençant par SATOR et l'autre par ROTAS (voir dernière image), les deux semblent avoir les même signification et propriétés.

ROTAS / OPERA / TENET / AREPO / SATOR sur l'autre face

Chaque amulette est créée à la main, les lettres sont ensuite oxydée afin de les faire ressortir. Le pendentif est ensuite poli afin d'obtenir son fini velouté.
Chaque amulette est unique et possède une forme et un caractère qui lui sont propres.
