The art of tea leaves reading is also called tasseography or tasseomancy. The word is a blend of two other words, the Persian word "ṭās" (cup) and the Greek suffix "mancy" (divination).
This method of divination appears to have begun around the XVIIth century, when the Chinese tea trade made its way into European society.

In "The Encyclopedia of Witches, Witchcraft, and Wicca" Rosemary Ellen Guiley points out that during the medieval period, European fortune-tellers often did readings based upon spatters of lead or wax, but when the tea trade boomed, these other materials were replaced with tea leaves for divinatory purposes.

This kit was created to introduce you to this method and includes everything one needs to begin right away!

This Tasseomancy kit contains:

❦ VINTAGE TEACUP & SAUCER
A beautiful and genuine vintage teacup and its saucer (see photos).
Made of white china with pastel yellow and pink flowers, green leaves and a gold brim. The cup has a good capacity, a beautiful ornate handle and is rather sturdy, all of which is perfect for tasseomancy!

- The cup is approximately: 8 x 8 cm / 3,5 x 3,5 inchesl
- The saucer is approximately: 16cm / 7 inches

❦ LOOSE TEA
The Tea of your choice. Selected from "Miss Maple's" (South of France) which was my mother's tearoom.
20 grams - enough for about 10 cups.

❦ MINI BOOKLET
Very simple instructions on how to start Tasseomancy.

❦ SYMBOLS & DIAGRAMS CARD
This reversible A5 card contains:
- a dictionary of 168 symbols with their possible explanation on one side
- two diagrams on how to read your cup on the back

Special divination incense in a tiny metal box. Entirely handmade and organic.
It contains dried Rose Petals, Lavender & Rosemary, Palo-Santo shavings, Copal resin among other secret ingredients.
Ingredients that have been associated with cleansing, calming and divination rituals since time immemorial.
Loose incense should be used on a charcoal disc.

TASSÉOMANCIE. KIT DE LECTURE DE FEUILLES DE THÉ ↟ Tasse à thé vintage, thé, encens, livret et carte avec symboles et schémas.

▵ HISTOIRE ▵
L'art de la lecture des feuilles de thé est également appelé tasséographie ou tasséomancie. Le mot tasséomancie est un mélange de deux autres mots, le mot persan "ṭās" (tasse) et le suffixe grec "mancie" (divination).
Cette méthode de divination semble avoir commencé vers le XVIIème siècle, lorsque le commerce chinois du thé a fait son chemin dans la société européenne.

Dans "L'Encyclopédie des sorcières, de la sorcellerie et de la Wicca", Rosemary Ellen Guiley souligne que pendant la période médiévale, les diseurs de bonne aventure européens faisaient souvent des lectures basées sur des éclaboussures de plomb ou de cire, mais lorsque le commerce du thé a explosé, ces autres matériaux fûrent remplacés par des feuilles de thé.

Ce kit de Tasséomancie contient :

❦ TASSE À THÉ ET SOUCOUPE VINTAGE
Une jolie tasse à thé et sa soucoupe vintage (voir photos).
En porcelaine blanche à motifs de fleurs jaunes et roses pastel, de feuilles vertes et d'un filet doré. La tasse a une bonne contenance, une superbe anse ornée et est plutôt robuste ce qui est parfait pour la tasséomancie !

- La tasse mesure environ : 8 x 8 cm / 3,5 x 3,5 pouces
- La soucoupe mesure environ : 16 cm / 7 pouces

❦ THÉ EN VRAC
Le thé de votre choix. Sélection "Miss Maple" (Provence) qui était le salon de thé de ma mère.

Des ingrédients associés aux rituels de purification, d'apaisement et de divination depuis des temps immémoriaux.
L'encens en vrac doit être utilisé sur un disque de charbon.
